When Toyota revealed the GR Yaris, it was hailed as a modern rally vehicle for the road. Just how, then, does it compare to a rally auto for the roadway from one of the WRC’s gold years? 5th Gear decided to take it on the track to see exactly how the young weapon contends against the traditional Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII.

The actual exact same Lancer that was included on the show in 2002, when Fifth Gear first examined it, the AWD performance automobile still looks pretty good for its age.
